Product Description:

The DKC21.3-016-7-FW is a drive controller built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the DKC Drive Controllers series. Built in the EcoDrive format, it converts a shared DC bus into controlled three-phase output for positioning and speed tasks in automated assembly cells, packaging lines, and material-handling stations. The controller combines power handling, feedback processing, and diagnostic logic in a compact housing. It also uses Interface Option 21 to connect with higher-level motion or fieldbus networks inside industrial cabinets.

The DC link is stabilized at 700 V, and the power section can deliver a continuous 16 A to the motor windings. During transient control operations, the internal control loop and brake loop currents are each limited to DC 10 A. This fixed ceiling protects the IGBTs from thermal overload when dynamic braking is engaged. The drive’s protective algorithm evaluates excess bus energy in less than 10 ms, then activates the chopper or external resistor as required. Low-voltage electronics on connector X6 draw no more than DC 40 V, which keeps the control-side circuitry separate from the high-energy bus. These limits are managed by the controller’s Design 3 platform, which includes temperature sensing and gate-drive monitoring.

The power terminals are intended for inductive components, and X1 and X6 each tolerate up to 100 µH of line inductance before the regulators lose stability. For reliable signal transmission, servo feedback and drive-enable lines must be wired with a minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm², whereas general control conductors can be as small as 1 mm². Using the correct conductor sizes helps maintain stable command signals and dependable enable status during operation. These wiring limits should be observed when the controller is installed in multi-axis EcoDrive racks alongside neighboring drives on the same system.
