The Bosch DDS03.1-W030-RC01-01-FW is a digital controller. It forms a rapid-response drive when used in combination with MDD, MKD and LAR motors. The controller is well suited to use in applications such machine tools, printing, machinery, robotics and textiles. DDS drive controllers work with all Bosch supply units with a regulated 24 Volts DC output. A completely assembled DDS drive controller is made up of a basic unit, plug in modules, software module and controller firmware. Both the firmware and configured drive parameters are stored on the software module. The software module supports copy function. In case of drive malfunction, operators can move the software module to a replacement drive. In this way configured parameters are carried over to the new drive. The software module installs in slot U5 on the basic unit.

The rating plate attached to the software module enables identification of the exact firmware version. Controller firmware must be ordered as a separate subposition. This implies that it is possible to re-order the same firmware version. Slot U1 on the basic unit is reserved for a command communication module. The command communication module installed on the DDS03.1-W030-RC01-01-FW supports Interbus-S. Other options for command communication include SERCOS, analog and single-axis positioning control. Bosch offers three cooling methods for DDS controllers: heat technology, cold technology and liquid cooling. The DDS03.1-W030-RC01-01-FW supports heat technology: the cooling airflow takes place inside the cabinet. Large cabinets are required with this cooling method. Air conditioning is another option that operators can use to maintain ambient temperature. The working temperature range is 0 to 45 degrees Celsius. Rated output of the DDS03.1-W030-RC01-01-FW is 30 Amps. The controller supports integrated resolver feedback.
