The DDS3.1-W050-DS01-01 is a digital AC servo drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DDS Drive Controllers series. Installed next to a supply module, it modulates three-phase motor currents in real time so that position, velocity, and torque demands issued by a higher-level CNC or PLC are satisfied during axis motion. By converting regulated DC-bus power into pulse-width-modulated output, the unit links the electrical supply to mechanical axes in automated packaging lines, machine tools, and material-handling stations.

The drive is supplied by a nominal DC bus of 300 VDC, and its input can deviate by ±15% without loss of control accuracy. Under continuous duty, it delivers 20 A of motor current, while short acceleration phases can draw up to 50 A before the current limiter intervenes. These levels produce a maximum internal heat load of 140 W, so cabinet airflow must remove that energy during operation. The controller also consumes 200 mA from each auxiliary -15 V and +15 V rail for signal electronics, and 1100 mA from the +24 V service rail for relay logic and fan power. These values must be considered when sizing the upstream supply module and its protective devices.

The operating range is 0 – 45 °C, the storage range is -30 – 85 °C, and the maximum relative humidity is 95 % at 25 g/m³ absolute humidity when condensation is avoided. The controller maintains full output up to an installation altitude of 1000 m, where air density still supports convective cooling. Its open-style housing carries an IP20 protection rating, so it must be mounted inside a closed electrical cabinet. The auxiliary electronics must remain within their voltage limits, and the combined current draw on the ±15 V rails and the 24 V service rail must be included in the cabinet power budget.
