The DDS03.1-W050-RS01-03-FW is a digital drive controller developed by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DDS Drive Controllers series. Intended for cabinet-mounted automation equipment, this unit converts command data from a SERCOS motion bus into phase-controlled power for servo axes. It serves as the central regulator between CNC, PLC, or robotic control systems and the connected motors on production lines. By processing motion commands at the drive level, it helps the machine maintain controlled torque, speed, and position during automatic cycles.

It communicates through the SERCOS interface, a high-speed fiber-optic ring that transfers setpoints and status in real time. The drive’s power stage is rated for 50 A continuous output, so the connected inverter section can energize medium-frame servo motors without derating. Thermal energy is removed by internal air cooling, so cabinet spacing and airflow must prevent heat from recirculating around the module. Safe-touch protection is provided by the IP20 housing, which is intended for enclosed panels that already limit dust and liquid exposure. Position and velocity loops are closed with resolver feedback, allowing rotor angle tracking during rapid acceleration. The function designation is RS01 with Function ID 01, and the module is part of Line 03.

The controller operates between 0 – 45 °C and may be stored or shipped at –30 – 85 °C. It can be installed at elevations up to 1000 m above sea level, and higher locations require output derating. Hardware release 1 sets the mechanical outline and connector arrangement for this build. These storage limits allow spare units to remain in non-climate-controlled warehouse areas before installation. Altitude affects cooling and insulation margins, so reduced loading is required when the drive is used above the stated elevation.
