The DDS03.1-W050-DS03-02-FW is a digital AC servo drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DDS Drive Controllers series. Installed between the motion controller and a synchronous or induction motor, it modulates phase current and exchanges real-time status data so automated axes follow commanded speed or torque profiles with minimal deviation. By integrating drive regulation, fieldbus communication, and protective monitoring into a compact module, the unit simplifies cabinet layouts in assembly cells, handling systems, and packaging lines.

The controller communicates over the SERCOS interface, allowing deterministic cycle times and standardized telegrams for position and diagnostics. Output stages are dimensioned for a continuous motor phase current of 50 A, supporting medium-power servomotors without saturation. Thermal energy is removed by forced convection that uses air drawn from inside the control cabinet; this internal cooling scheme avoids external ducting but requires unobstructed airflow around the heat sink. The housing carries an IP20 protection rating, so live parts are finger-safe, but the module must be mounted in an enclosed rack. Reliable operation is specified for ambient temperatures from 0 – 45 °C, ensuring full output in most climate-controlled factory spaces.

When the machine is idle or being shipped, the electronics tolerate storage between -30 – 85 °C without degradation of capacitors or solder joints. Installation altitude is limited to 1000 m; above this level, the reduced air density lowers cooling efficiency and derating becomes necessary. Precise position feedback is achieved through digital servo feedback, enabling the drive to close current, velocity, and optional position loops with fine resolution.
