The DDS03.1-W050-D is a digital AC servo drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DDS Drive Controllers series. This unit links a supply module to an Indramat servo motor to regulate torque, velocity, and position in automated machinery such as packaging stations and material-handling axes. By processing encoder data and modulating its output bridge, the controller forms the core of a closed-loop drive system that fits into a control cabinet. It is intended for motion applications that require stable speed regulation and accurate positioning during repeated operating cycles.
With a continuous output capability of 20 A, the controller can drive medium-frame servo motors without thermal derating. That current is supplied from a bus maintained at 300 VDC, and the resulting switching losses are removed by internal air cooling that moves cabinet air across the heat sink. Encoder signals reach the control electronics through the integrated digital servo feedback interface, while parameter data is exchanged over an RS-232 link that uses a 15-Pin D-Sub connector and follows the RS 232C electrical standard. Logic electronics require 500 mA at +24 V and 150 mA on each ±15 V rail, and the drive is part of line 03, version 1 of the DDS platform.
During short acceleration commands, the output stage can supply a peak of 50 A, which supports compatible motor windings during brief overload periods. Mechanical connection to the shared DC link is made with an M5 stud, so the correct screw size must be used when terminating the bus bars. A starting-lockout circuit monitors an external 24 VDC permit signal, and its electromechanical coil draws 1 A and dissipates 1.5 W when active. This interlock keeps the drive disabled until the required enable signal is present, which helps prevent unintended motor energization during startup or external stop conditions.
