The DDS03.1-W030-RS04-02 is a digital AC servo drive controller built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DDS Drive Controllers series. It serves as the axis amplifier inside multi-axis automation racks, receiving motion commands from a higher-level controller and modulating power to the connected motor. By combining signal processing, current regulation, and fault monitoring in one unit, the drive streamlines closed-loop control tasks common to pick-and-place robots, printed-circuit assembly lines, and material-handling gantries. This arrangement lets the system respond quickly to load changes during indexing and continuous motion.

This model communicates over the SERCOS interface, so cyclic setpoints and feedback travel on a fiber-optic bus with deterministic timing. Thermal management is handled through internal air cooling; cabinet air moves across the heat sink, eliminating the need for an external blower. The power section can deliver up to 30 A of continuous output current, which sets the continuous current available to the connected motor without derating. With a protection rating of IP20, live parts are finger-safe, but the unit must be mounted in an enclosed panel. Its specified operating envelope of 0 – 45 °C allows installation beside other drives and control electronics when ambient temperatures stay within that range. The drive maintains rated performance up to 1000 m above sea level, allowing full output in most factory elevations before additional cooling or derating is required. Position and speed are returned to the controller through resolver feedback, providing analog sine-cosine signals that tolerate the electrical noise found in large machines. When powered down, components withstand ambient storage between -30 – 85 °C, which supports warehousing and long-distance shipping. Storage tolerance also helps protect the unit during transport and periods when the control cabinet is not energized. The drive belongs to Line 03 and is version 1.
