The DDS03.1-W030-RS04-01 is a digital AC servo drive controller built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DDS Drive Controllers series. It is used in automation systems where a central control sends motion commands and the drive regulates motor current in real time. In an automation cell, it modulates three-phase power to commanded values so connected motors can follow the required motion profile. This type of drive is commonly used for positioning tasks that need repeatable speed and torque control. By handling closed-loop regulation inside the drive, it forms the electrical link between the motion processor and the mechanical load.

The controller communicates with upper-level CNC or PLC hardware through the SERCOS interface, a fiber-optic fieldbus used for deterministic cycle timing in synchronized multi-axis systems. Heat from the power stage is removed by internal air cooling, so cabinet airflow must be maintained even though no external blower is required. Position and speed data are returned through resolver feedback, allowing the drive to track rotor angle during rapid reversals. The output stage is rated for 30 A, which is the continuous current the unit can supply without derating. The housing has an IP20 protection class, so it is finger-safe but still requires installation in a protected panel. The permitted ambient operating temperature is 0–45 °C, and additional cabinet cooling may be needed above that range.

Installation altitude is limited to 1000 m, because thinner air reduces cooling efficiency at higher elevations. Above that height, lower air density can require reduced current loading to help control temperature rise. When de-energized, the unit can be stored from -30 to +85 °C, which supports transport and warehouse storage in unconditioned spaces. The drive is assigned to Line 03 and Function ID 04, which identify its control variant within the DDS platform. The unit is Version 1.
