Product Description:
Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the DDS03.1-W030-DS31-00 as part of the DDS Drive Controllers series. This unit is used inside multi-axis automation cabinets to regulate torque, speed, and position of servo motors by modulating three-phase output based on command signals from higher-level motion controllers. By converting incoming DC bus energy into controlled AC waveforms, it supports precise motion profiles in packaging machines, printing presses, and material-handling stations. The device mounts on a backplane and interfaces with a common power supply module, forming a modular drive rack architecture.
The integrated SERCOS interface supplies deterministic fiber-optic communication between this controller and the motion PLC, supporting high-speed cyclic data exchange for synchronized axis groups. Thermal management relies on internal air cooling, which means cabinet air is drawn through the heat sink and enclosure airflow must be maintained to dissipate conversion losses. Its continuous output channel is rated at 30 A, so power wiring, fusing, and motor selection must accommodate this current during steady operation. An enclosure rating of IP20 provides finger protection but does not seal against dust ingress, so installation is limited to closed electrical cabinets. Reliable performance is permitted for ambient temperatures between 0 to 45 °C, allowing use in standard factory climates without derating.
At heights up to 1000 m above sea level, the unit maintains its electrical ratings, although reduced air density above that elevation can limit cooling performance. Compatible motors must provide digital servo feedback, enabling the controller to close a high-resolution position loop without separate incremental encoders. During long-term storage or shipment, the electronics tolerate ambient temperatures from -30 to 85 °C, which supports transport and storage in a wide range of conditions. The unit is part of Line 03 in the DDS series.
