It receives motion commands from a higher-level CNC or PLC and modulates power to the connected servomotor, providing closed-loop velocity and torque regulation. In industrial automation cells, the unit serves as the intermediary that translates position profiles into three-phase drive currents, enabling coordinated movement for packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and assembly stations. This control approach helps the motor respond consistently to changing load demands during indexing, interpolation, and repeated start-stop cycles.
