Bosch Rexroth Indramat developed the DDS02.1-W050-R to act as the power and control interface between a CNC or PLC and synchronous or induction servo motors in a multi-axis machine. The unit belongs to the DDS Drive Controllers series and works in a modular drive stack with matching power supplies and auxiliary modules. It converts incoming DC-bus energy into controlled three-phase output for precise speed and torque regulation in positioning tables, packaging stations, and printing lines. This arrangement lets the controller regulate motor current accurately while the higher-level control system sends motion commands for coordinated axis movement.

Its thermal management relies on internal air cooling, so cabinet air moves through the heat sink instead of using an external blower. Because the cooling path uses air from inside the enclosure, internal cabinet heat can directly affect drive temperature. The controller can continuously deliver 50 A of phase current, which limits the motor load the axis can support and affects conductor sizing and protective device selection. An enclosure classification of IP20 provides finger-safe openings but still requires installation in a closed electrical cabinet. Reliable position feedback is processed through resolver feedback, allowing the drive to track rotor position during rapid acceleration. Ambient operation is permitted within 0–45 °C, so additional cabinet ventilation may be needed when higher internal temperatures are expected.

The unit can be mounted up to 1000 m above sea level without output derating. During storage or transport, it can tolerate temperatures from −30 to +85 °C, which helps protect insulation and internal components during warehouse storage or shipping. Within the DDS architecture, it is assigned to product line 02 and version 1. These codes identify the controller's place within the DDS platform.
