Product Description:
The DDS02.1-W050-DS04-01 is a servo drive controller built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DDS Drive Controllers series. It is installed inside a control cabinet to regulate current and position loops of synchronous and asynchronous servo motors in automated machinery. The unit links the higher-level logic of a CNC or PLC with the motor windings, providing closed-loop regulation to maintain commanded torque and speed profiles. In a machine control system, it acts as the power stage between the motion controller and the motor, converting command values into regulated phase current. This allows the connected axis to follow programmed acceleration, speed, and position changes with repeatable response during production cycles.
Communication with the host control system is handled through the SERCOS interface, a fiber-optic fieldbus that transmits cyclic setpoints and feedback at high speed. Heat produced by switching devices is removed by internal air cooling, so the enclosure must provide a clear airflow path. The controller supplies a continuous output of 50 A, which is the maximum RMS motor phase current it can deliver without derating. Electrical parts are protected only against finger contact and limited dust by the IP20 housing, making cabinet mounting mandatory. Position data from the motor arrives as digital servo feedback, allowing high-resolution commutation and closed-loop motion control. Using digital encoder data also helps the drive maintain stable commutation and accurate speed regulation as the mechanical load changes.
Continuous operation is permitted between 0 to 45 °C, while storage is allowed from -30 to 85 °C. Installation altitude is limited to 1000 m, above which additional cooling or current reduction is required. The controller uses Function ID version 01 and belongs to Line 02. The unit is Version 1 and uses the standard mechanical dimensions for this drive size. Ambient conditions outside these limits can reduce cooling effectiveness and available operating margin.
