The DDS02.1-W015-DS40-02-FW is a digital AC servo drive controller built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the DDS Drive Controllers series. Installed inside electrical cabinets, the unit receives setpoint data from a central motion controller and modulates three-phase power to matched Indramat servo motors. In these systems, the drive translates controller commands into regulated motor current while monitoring motor response during operation. By managing acceleration, positioning, and holding force in real time, it supports automated production cells, pick-and-place gantries, and conveyor indexing systems that require stable torque delivery and repeatable travel profiles. The DDS platform allows multiple drives to be mounted side by side on a common supply bus, minimizing wiring and supporting compact machine layouts.

Communication with higher-level controls is handled through the fiber-optic SERCOS interface, which transfers precise velocity commands and diagnostic information in deterministic time slots. This communication method keeps command timing consistent across connected axes during coordinated motion. The integrated power section supplies a continuous output current of 15 A; this rating indicates how much motor phase current the unit can supply without exceeding thermal limits. Heat generated by switching devices is dissipated by internal air cooling, so adequate cabinet airflow must be provided instead of attaching an external heatsink. For personnel safety, the enclosure has an IP20 rating, meaning tool access is required before live parts can be touched and the device is suited only for dry indoor environments.

The controller maintains specified performance within an ambient range of 0 – 45 °C and at elevations up to 1000 m, allowing installation in most factory settings without derating. During shipping or warehouse storage, it can withstand temperatures between -30 – 85 °C. Servo position and speed loops are closed by the drive using feedback from motors equipped with digital servo feedback encoders. These operating limits cover normal production conditions as well as unpowered transport and storage. The unit is part of production line 02 and is hardware version 1.
