Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the DDS02.1-W015-DS03-01 drive unit in its DDS Drive Controllers series. Classified as a digital AC servo drive controller, the product is installed inside a control cabinet and supplies regulated three-phase power to synchronous and induction motors used in industrial automation. By modulating voltage and frequency in closed-loop operation, the controller links motion axes to higher-level PLCs and supports repeatable positioning in production lines, packaging machines, and material-handling systems. Its cabinet-mounted format suits centralized drive systems where power conversion and feedback processing are handled inside an enclosed electrical panel rather than at the motor. This arrangement also keeps the power stage near the machine’s control hardware for coordinated axis management.
The drive delivers a continuous output of 15 A, so the connected motor must remain within that current limit during steady operation. A SERCOS interface provides the fieldbus connection, allowing deterministic command cycles and data exchange with multi-axis motion controllers. Rotor position is returned through digital servo feedback, enabling the internal regulators to calculate torque and speed corrections in real time. Thermal energy is removed by internal air cooling, so cabinet airflow must be maintained and no separate heat sink plates are required on the unit exterior. The housing has an IP20 rating, which provides finger-safe protection but does not seal the unit against dust carried by forced ventilation. Operation is permitted from 0 to 45 °C, allowing normal use across common factory ambient conditions.
For site planning, the controller can be mounted up to 1000 m above sea level without adjustment to insulation clearances. During storage or shipment, the electronics tolerate temperatures from -30 to 85 °C if condensation is avoided. The unit is part of Line 02 and uses Function ID version 01. These identifiers keep the controller matched to the correct control revision for this drive type. They also support compatibility with the intended system settings and communication behavior in existing automation equipment.
