By integrating motion sequencing, fast encoder sampling, and real-time network routing on one module, the device streamlines control cabinet layout for material-handling stations, assembly robots, and continuous-process lines.

Camera channel data are transported through a 2 x RJ-45, 100Base-TX CCD interface, and each port supports cables up to 100 m, allowing vision sensors to be mounted far from the cabinet. The unit exchanges axis positions with downstream drives over the Parallel Interface, while higher-level coordination is handled by the Sercos III Master cross-communication mode. For bench testing, an emulation output can toggle encoder replicas across a 40 m shielded line at up to 1 MHz, so legacy feedback devices receive realistic signal timing. A standard single-line control panel on the front face provides local status. Configuration and diagnostics are performed through an Ethernet-based engineering interface, and no integrated safety option is provided, so external safety relays must handle emergency stop logic.

The feedback side includes a D-Sub 15 Female connector that sources up to 500 mA at 12 V DC for external encoders and supports SSI absolute plus incremental emulation. During power-up, the electronics draw an inrush current of 4 A for a 100 ms pulse before settling to nominal consumption. Sixteen optocoupled inputs and sixteen transistor outputs are available as 16 In / 16 Out parallel digital channels for high-speed sensor flags, valve coils, or interlock signals, giving the module direct machine-level interaction without additional I/O cards.
