The board serves as the primary processing unit for IndraDrive power sections, executing motion algorithms, fieldbus communication, and integrated safety logic for multi-axis machinery. By combining high-speed Multi-Ethernet links with encoder evaluation and analog I/Os, it acts as the central coordinator that links drives, sensors, and the machine PLC during automated production cycles.

The EN2 section consumes only 6 W, so thermal rise inside the cabinet remains limited even when multiple cards are stacked. Its dedicated Ethernet hardware adds a further 2.2 W, which helps with control-panel power-supply sizing. During power-up, the module draws an inrush current of 4 A, so the supply path may require series resistors or timed sequencing to avoid tripping breakers. Motion timing signals are accommodated through a maximum pulse width of 100 ms, allowing compatibility with external latch or probe functions. All analog channels are sampled and converted with 12 bits of resolution, providing fine granularity for velocity, torque, or process feedback values sent to the internal controller.

Network traffic is handled by an IEEE 802.3 interface rated for 100Base-TX, giving deterministic update cycles over standard CAT-5e wiring within the machine. Incremental and absolute feedback devices are powered from a stabilized 5 V rail, and the board can decode EnDat 2.1, 1 Vpp, or 5 V TTL signals without additional adapters. For direct process sensing, the MA1 block offers 2 differential channels of analog input and two analog outputs, enabling drive-based control loops independent of the PLC. Functional safety is implemented with Safe Motion logic, and the relay contact set is approved for 24 V / 1 A, while separate solid-state outputs and inputs provide lower-current 24 V paths to integrate gate interlocks and light curtains.
