Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the CSH01.1C-SE-ENS-NNN-MD2-S2-S-NN-FW control section as part of the CSH Advanced Controllers series. This unit installs in IndraDrive power modules and executes axis control, fieldbus communication, and safety monitoring in industrial automation cells. By combining motion processing with decentralized I/O coordination, it serves as the central processor that converts PLC commands into drive-level tasks for servo and spindle axes. It also concentrates command handling and signal management within the same drive platform.

Mechanical integration is simplified by the compact frame; the housing width is 49.5 mm, the vertical span reaches 241 mm, and the depth is 103 mm. Signal exchange with higher-level controllers relies on the deterministic SERCOS Interface, while a maintenance port based on RS232 supports parameter backup and service access. For analog feedback to auxiliary devices, one channel provides 5 V / 1 mA of sourcing capability. Internally, the MD2 expansion furnishes sixteen digital inputs and sixteen digital outputs, and the built-in SSI evaluator allows absolute position encoders to be wired without extra hardware. A relay contact rated at DC 24 V / 1 A is available for fault messaging or circuit enable functions.

Functional safety is embedded at drive level through the Safe Motion option, which lets the application implement monitored stop, safe limited speed, and other protective modes without external relays. The control section achieves certification up to SIL2 / Cat. 3 PL d, so it can be integrated into machinery that must satisfy current risk-reduction standards. For auxiliary sensors, an onboard supply delivers 24 V / 0.5 A, eliminating the need for a separate power source when wiring proximity switches or brake feedback. Option 3 extends the digital I/O count while passing SSI encoder data directly to the motion kernel, allowing deterministic position evaluation even when multiple axes share the same controller.
