It delivers motion-control processing that interprets encoder signals, handles fieldbus exchanges, and issues precise velocity and position commands. In an industrial automation cell, its role is to connect sensors, actuators, and higher-level networks so that servo axes follow programmed trajectories with consistent timing.

Real-time communication with neighboring drives is established through the SERCOS III master port, ensuring cycle-synchronous data transfer for position loops. Primary feedback is accepted on the first encoder connector, which supports IndraDyn / HIPERFACE / 1 Vpp signals. A second channel accommodates EnDat2.1 / 1 Vpp / 5 V TTL devices for redundant or auxiliary position checking. A maintenance computer can access the board through the RS232 service port. Functional safety is integrated through Safe Motion, allowing the controller to monitor speed limits internally instead of relying on external contactors.
