Within automated lines, it mounts on an IndraDrive base unit to interpret encoder signals, pass high-speed setpoints, and supervise axis-related safety so drives follow commanded profiles while meeting mandated stop requirements. Its role centers on linking servo hardware with plant-level control systems while keeping internal power consumption low.

The controller draws a base level of 7.5 W, so enclosure power budgeting is minimal even when all submodules are active. Motion commands are exchanged over SERCOS III, a deterministic Ethernet ring that supports tight, synchronized update cycles.
