It mounts on a Rexroth drive rack and coordinates axis commands, fieldbus traffic, and local I/O for automated cells. Within an industrial line, it converts network telegrams into deterministic position or speed instructions, supervises status bits, and routes diagnostics upstream to the PLC or SCADA layer. It can also centralize command handling for synchronized axes and peripheral signals within the same rack-based control system.

The controller includes a PROFIBUS-DP interface that sustains data exchange at 12 MBaud, allowing real-time communication with distributed drives and sensors.
