As a control section for IndraDrive modular drives, it provides real-time motion control and I/O handling for multi-axis machinery in automated manufacturing cells. The unit integrates with power sections in the same rack, translating fieldbus commands into precise servo positioning and coordinating encoder feedback for closed-loop operation.

For networked motion systems, the controller offers a cross-communication interface based on SERCOS III, accessed through the dual X24 and X25 ports so several drives can share synchronous cyclic data. Master fieldbus traffic reaches the board over PROFIBUS-DP, allowing PLCs to exchange control words through the DIN EN 50170-2 Type A cable and the X30 female D-Sub connector. Internal logic, digital inputs, and sensor power are supplied by an I/O rail rated at DC 19–30 V. That input must be able to deliver up to 1.1 A when every terminal is populated. A standard control panel is installed at the front of the section, providing push-button access to drive status without external tools. The controller has no integrated safety option, so emergency stop and safe torque off must be handled by external hardware.

The electronics are housed in a compact card measuring 241 × 49.5 × 103 mm, which allows dense installation inside a control cabinet. Primary motor feedback is accepted through IndraDyn, Hiperface, 1 Vpp, or TTL interfaces with a stabilized supply of 12 V. The secondary channel supports HSF or RSF encoders powered at 8 V. A repeater line on the board can distribute PROFIBUS signals and draws no more than 75 mA from the internal bus when fed with +5 V ±10%. Cross-communication timing is maintained by the card’s dedicated FPGA, and the lack of onboard safety circuits leaves processing capacity available for deterministic motion tasks.
