It mounts inside a drive cabinet and coordinates motion or process sequences by exchanging field signals, power-stage commands, and status data with higher-level PLCs. In an installation, it serves as the central logic element that converts application code and feedback into deterministic setpoints for attached IndraDrive power sections. This arrangement allows one cabinet-mounted unit to manage sequence logic while also handling axis-related command flow.

Analog transducer signals can be generated directly by the module because its analog output delivers 1 mA of current or a selectable voltage of 5 V. These output ranges suit common feedback references and test connections without additional signal-conditioning hardware. Internal electronics operate from a control supply of 24 VDC, so the controller can share the low-voltage rail already used in many cabinets. During normal runtime, the unit dissipates only 7.5 W, which helps limit heat buildup in tightly packed enclosures. For host communication, a built-in RS232 port is provided, allowing parameter transfer or diagnostics with a standard serial cable.

The power-side design supports peripheral loads through an I/O backplane that may draw up to 1.1 A, and this value helps size the external control supply when several cards are installed. At startup, the module can impose an inrush of 4 A that lasts no longer than 100 ms, so upstream protection must tolerate a brief surge without nuisance tripping.
