Installed inside IndraDrive power sections, the unit processes axis feedback, handles fieldbus traffic, and issues coordinated drive commands that synchronize servo axes in automated production lines. By combining encoder evaluation, analog conversion, and multi-protocol Ethernet on one card, it forms the central control layer between machine PLCs and individual drive inverters.

It collects sensor voltages through an analog front end that digitizes signals with a 12-bit A/D converter, while internal filters maintain signal integrity with a cutoff frequency of 500 kHz. The primary encoder interface accepts IndraDyn, Hiperface, 1 Vpp, and TTL formats, and the differential lines present a characteristic impedance of 120 ohms, limiting reflections on long feedback cables. Power for encoders is supplied at 11.6 V through a D-Sub 15-pin connector, and the card can emulate absolute or incremental protocols to downstream controllers.
