The Bosch CSH01.1C-NN-ENS-MEM-MD1-S2-S-NN-FW is a modular control section. Both the hardware and software can be selected to suit the customer requirements. The functionality of each control section is determined by the installed firmware and its supported feature set. The firmware can be selected from the set of firmware that Bosch has developed for this type of control section. The hardware is also selectable: the basic control section hardware has four slots that can accommodate a wide range of modules. One slot is reserved for a safety module and the remaining three slots can be used for other plug-in modules. The safety module that comes pre-installed on the CSH01.1C-NN-ENS-MEM-MD1-S2-S-NN-FW supports safe motion. The other plug-in modules that are pre-installed on the CSH01.1C-NN-ENS-MEM-MD1-S2-S-NN-FW include an encoder emulation module, a digital I/O extension module and an IndraDyn encoder module with Hiperface support.

The control section includes several integrated analog and digital I/Os. The digital I/O extension module is used for increasing the digital I/Os on the CSH01.1C-NN-ENS-MEM-MD1-S2-S-NN-FW. The CSH01.1C-NN-ENS-MEM-MD1-S2-S-NN-FW is configurable. A standard control panel can be used for its configuration. A comfort control panel cannot be used for the configuration. The CSH01.1C-NN-ENS-MEM-MD1-S2-S-NN-FW is supplied without a master communication interface. The device is provided as part of an assembled drive controller from the IndraDrive product line. In special cases it can be supplied as an individual unit. When supplied separately, the control section mounts on a compatible power section. To prevent hardware damage, Bosch has set a limit on the number of times that the control section and power section belonging to a particular drive controller can be assembled: this limit is set to 20. Bosch does not accept liability for improper use of its products.
