The CLM01.4-N-N-4-B-FW positioning control module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the CLM Axis Positioning Control Modules series. As an Indramat position control unit, it coordinates multi-axis feed drives in machining or converting equipment by generating motion profiles and position targets for downstream servo drives. The module uses measuring wheel feedback from an incremental encoder to maintain accurate material length control and cut positions during automated production. This control method is well suited to applications that must synchronize product movement with cutting, feeding, or registration tasks.

The controller is equipped to manage 4 axes, assigning one incremental encoder channel to each axis so every drive receives closed-loop position data. This arrangement lets the module track each controlled axis separately while using one central control platform. Its internal circuits are powered from a regulated 24 VDC source, and the logic draws a continuous 450 mA. Feed commands are generated with a granularity of 0.01 mm, allowing fine length corrections in cut-to-length or roll-forming processes. For machine interfacing, the base unit provides 16 inputs and 16 outputs for direct connection to limit switches, valves, and synchronization signals.

The housing measures 105 mm in width, 325 mm in depth, and 390 mm in height, so cabinet space must be allocated accordingly. The enclosure is rated IP10 and is intended for installation inside a protected cabinet where exposure to dust is limited. A backlit LCD provides local status information, and a detachable keypad can be mounted up to 5 m away for easier access at eye level. The module is design version 4, supports incremental measuring wheel encoders, operates without an onboard fieldbus interface, and keeps all user I/O on the base terminals because no option cards are fitted.
