The CLM01.4-LAP-05VRS-MS axis positioning control module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and is part of the CLM Axis Positioning Control Modules series. As an Indramat Position Control device, it generates position commands and velocity profiles for up to four servo axes, coordinating them for machine functions such as cut-to-length lines, press feeders, or indexing conveyors. Installed inside an IP20 cabinet slot, the unit serves as the motion supervisor, exchanging setpoints and feedback with drives and higher-level controllers through serial and fieldbus links.
It operates from a 24 V DC (+20%) logic supply and draws a base current of 450 mA, creating an internal power loss of 45 W that must be dissipated by cabinet airflow. Design Version 4 in Line 01 combines tighter code execution with encoder capture at 1 MHz, while a backplane bus distributes motion data to 4 coordinated axes. Programs of up to 3000 instructions are transferred over dual RS232C/RS485 ports or the Profibus node, letting the module interface with PLCs or standalone operator panels. The aluminum housing measures 330 × 105 × 390 mm and weighs 6 kg, so it fits alongside other CLM modules on standard mounting rails.
Four differential input channels accept 4 × ±10 V, 12-bit analog signals for following external position or velocity references, while matching output channels deliver 4 × ±10 V, 14-bit control voltages to analog-driven amplifiers. For discrete logic, the board offers 88 programmable inputs and 51 programmable outputs, allowing complex handshaking with sensors, clamps, or auxiliary actuators. Up to 127 subprogram levels can be nested to structure application code, and protective rating IP20 limits installation to clean, enclosed cabinets. With encoder data acquired at microsecond resolution, the controller maintains tight axis alignment even during rapid sequence branching.
