The CLM01.4-LA1-01VRS-MS module is a position controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat in the CLM Axis Positioning Control Modules series. It coordinates motion on several servo drives by evaluating encoder signals, calculating position errors, and updating command outputs quickly enough for packaging, cutting, and gantry applications. The front panel combines a 20-key membrane keypad with a four-line, sixteen-character display, so operators can load part programs, jog individual axes, and view status without an external terminal.

This controller governs 4 axes while drawing a logic supply of 24 Vdc at only 450 mA. Machine signals are routed through an I/O map that includes 88 aux inputs, 51 aux outputs, 24 predefined inputs, and 18 predefined outputs, allowing direct connection of sensors, valves, and interlocks. The controller can execute five concurrent tasks, letting motion sequences, diagnostic routines, and HMI updates run in parallel. Each block can call subroutines or modify variables during operation. Every axis accepts one incremental or absolute encoder, while an optional measuring wheel channel is limited to incremental feedback. Version 4 electronics sit on Line 01 backplanes and conform to the CLM signal pinout.

Positioning accuracy is supported by a feed resolution of 0.01 mm, so small length corrections can be issued without mechanical adjustment. Serial links are handled through an asynchronous port whose maximum rate is 19200 Baud; at this setting, the controller can upload or download entire part programs in minutes. For distributed installations, its RS-485 bus supports up to 32 stations, allowing several CLM units to share line-stop and production-count data. Storage for motion logic reaches 3000 program blocks, providing space for change-of-format recipes and test cycles without external memory cards.
