The CLM01.3-X-E-2-B positioning control module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the CLM Axis Positioning Control Modules series. It serves as a position control unit that coordinates linear or rotary axes on automated machines. By issuing precisely timed feed commands to attached drives, the module supports cut-to-length, packaging, and general material-handling operations in industrial environments. Its control functions are suited to repeatable positioning tasks that require coordinated movement and consistent response over long production runs.

The controller is built around a Motorola 68000 microprocessor that executes motion algorithms stored in a nonvolatile 256K EPROM, while operator data are buffered in RAM. Its standard configuration supports 2-axis motion, and each encoder channel draws 200 mA from the CLM supply. Position commands are generated with a fine 0.01 mm feed resolution, enabling tight length tolerances. The electronics run from a 24 Vdc control supply, allowing the unit to share the extra-low-voltage bus commonly used inside control cabinets. A four-line backlit LCD and twenty tactile keys provide direct access to teach, jog, and diagnostic menus. When an application expands, an internal bus slot accepts option cards that add I/O or serial channels without altering the base dimensions.

Internally, the module carries 128K of battery-backed RAM that is preserved by a 3.6 V lithium cell, so job presets remain intact during power outages. Passive convection cooling eliminates the need for fans. The steel housing measures 390 mm high, 325 mm deep, and 105 mm wide, yet the assembly weighs only 6 kg. An ingress rating of IP10 means the electronics must be installed in a filtered enclosure, but the vented housing still allows efficient heat dissipation. Supplied under hardware line 01, the unit also accepts optional expansion hardware offered for the series.
