The CLM01.3-LA1-03VRS-MS module is an Indramat position control device manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the CLM Axis Positioning Control Modules series. It serves as the central controller in automated cut-to-length and positioning stations, converting encoder pulses into coordinated motor commands so feed material stops exactly where required. Rather than relying on simple on and off relays, the unit coordinates motion with continuous feedback so axis movement can be corrected while the machine runs. This supports repeatable stopping points in lines where feed accuracy affects clamping, cutting, and transfer steps.

Its logic core is a Motorola 68000 microprocessor supported by 128 KB of battery-backed RAM for variable data and 256 KB of EPROM for the operating program and user routines. The control electronics run on a stable 24 Vdc supply and process encoder pulses at a feed-length resolution of 0.001 in. One incremental encoder can be connected to each axis for closed-loop position feedback, and internal task timers help sequence clamp, feed, cut, and eject outputs in step with material movement. This memory arrangement separates stored program data from changing process values during operation.

The front panel uses a four-line LCD to display status and fault codes in a compact format, with 16 characters available on each line. Natural convection cools the electronics, and the enclosure has an IP10 rating for cabinet installation at elevations up to 3280 ft. The housing is 15.35 in high, 4.13 in wide, and 12.80 in deep, while the overall mass is 14 lb. Within that footprint, the controller can supervise up to 4 motion axes, and its measuring-wheel input accepts feedback from incremental encoders only. Because cooling is passive, the module does not rely on fan-based airflow inside the cabinet.
