Bosch Rexroth Indramat’s CLM 01.3-X-E-4-B belongs to the CLM Axis Positioning Control Modules series and serves as an Indramat position controller for coordinated multi-axis motion tasks in automated machinery. Installed between a motion controller and servo drives, it issues incremental or absolute position commands. This allows packaging stations, material-handling gantries, or press feeders to reach programmed coordinates with repeatable accuracy.

The unit supervises up to 4 independent axes and is powered from a machine logic rail of 24 Vdc. A Motorola 68000 microprocessor executes interpolation, limit checking, and diagnostic routines while drawing only 200 mA of controller current per encoder channel. Program code resides in battery-backed RAM, and the board provides 128K of RAM for variable data and motion tables. Data transfer is handled through the RS-232/422/485 port at up to 19200 baud, and non-volatile storage for application parameters is supported by a watchdog and brownout monitor so tasks resume after power interruptions. The encoder interfaces supply 400 mA to absolute transducers and 50 mA to incremental devices, while an additional 250 mA line supports expanded I/O boards.

A 256K EPROM holds the executive kernel, and the operator panel displays axis status on a 4-line display that simplifies setup. Machine signals are wired directly to the logic edge connectors that accommodate 88 auxiliary inputs and 51 auxiliary outputs. Each input sinks 10 mA at 24 Vdc, and every output sources 50 mA at the same voltage. Encoder supply is limited to 50 mA for incremental channels and 200 mA per CLM encoder, which helps protect the supply regulator against overload. The controller positions axes while exchanging status with higher-level PLCs or HMIs.
