The CLM 01.3-M-E-2-0 is a positioning control module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the CLM Axis Positioning Control Modules series. Designed for the Flying Cutoff control function, it synchronizes a traveling knife or shear with product motion so material can be cut to length without stopping the conveyor. Installed in a control cabinet, the unit processes encoder feedback and peripheral inputs, then transmits commanded positions to drive amplifiers for closed-loop control in continuous-feed machinery. This operating method allows the cutting motion to track the moving product during each cycle instead of interrupting line flow.

This controller handles 2 axes, providing independent yet coordinated position loops for dual tools or for a registration axis paired with the cutoff slide. Motion instructions leave through a 15-pin Phoenix command connector that includes start, stop, and velocity reference pins. Operator interaction is provided by an LCD display with 4 × 16 characters, and the front panel includes 20 keys for parameter entry, jog functions, and alarm acknowledgment. Long-distance or host communication is available through RS-232/422/485, allowing recipes and production counts to be exchanged with a supervisory PLC. Separate encoder, input, and output connectors support orderly signal routing inside the cabinet and help keep motion control wiring distinct from interlock circuits.

The enclosure is suitable for cabinet installation, and protection is rated IP10 for indoor panel environments. Additional field devices can be connected through the Expansion I/O board when the standard contacts are already in use. The housing measures 105 mm in width and 325 mm in depth, allowing the module to occupy one vertical slot in a crowded rack. With a mass of 6 kg, the unit remains substantial enough for stable mounting without making cabinet handling unusually difficult. The front-mounted display and keypad support local status viewing and setup access at the face of the module.
