CDB drive controllers encompass basic universal control sections and power sections. These drive controllers are characterized by two axes for their control sections. The controllers are intended to be used in conjunction with the manufacturer’s HMV power supplies and MSK range of synchronous motors or MAD / MAF series of asynchronous motors. • The Indramat drive controllers have two digital inputs of Type 2 and two digital inputs of Type 3 that act as probe inputs. There are a total of 18 to 22 digital inputs of which four are combined inputs/outputs that can be configured as either digital inputs or digital outputs.
• The entire range of CDB drive controllers requires an external supply voltage at the X31.8 and X31.9 connecting points for their digital inputs/outputs.

CDB drive controllers come with a dedicated slot to insert one of two types of multimedia cards. Both types of multimedia cards help in reading as well as storing data such as drive parameters, operating data and firmware.

The drive controllers feature a normally open relay contact with pick-up and drop-out delays of 10 ms and two current control, position control and velocity control cycle times. They have a minimum SERCOS cycle time of 1000µs. CDB drive controllers must not be put to use outside the ambient operating conditions specified by the manufacturer.
