CDB drive controllers encompass basic universal control sections and power sections. These drive controllers are characterized by two axes for their control sections. The controllers are intended to be used in conjunction with the manufacturer’s HMV power supplies and MSK range of synchronous motors or MAD / MAF series of asynchronous motors. The drive controllers have multiple connecting points to connect several optional modules according to the application.

Indramat CDB drive controllers come with their control section plugged inside the power sections. The controllers must always be mounted only in vertical orientation. They must be handled by trained and qualified personnel to avoid the possibility of getting damaged because of inappropriate handling. These drive controllers are designed to be operated only in industrial environments. The controllers must always be retained in their original state without making any changes to their hardware configuration. Their operation must take place only in the specified configuration and combination of components. • CDB drive controllers are used in handling and mounting systems, printing, packaging, paper processing and food machines as well as machine tools.
• The Indramat drive controllers have two digital inputs of Type 2 and two digital inputs of Type 3 that act as probe inputs. There are a total of 18 to 22 digital inputs of which four are combined inputs/outputs that can be configured as either digital inputs or digital outputs.
• The entire range of CDB drive controllers requires an external supply voltage at the X31.8 and X31.9 connecting points for their digital inputs/outputs.
• These drive controllers must be operated only with power supplies that encompass a protective diode for protection against polarity reversal of the supply voltage and incorrect connection.
• The CDB drive controllers are equipped with standard control panels featuring a single-line display and four keys to assist in their operation. This control panel does not support hot plug operation.

CDB drive controllers come with a dedicated slot to insert one of two types of multimedia cards. One type comes with loaded firmware while the other type is preformatted for easy transmission of parameters. Both types of multimedia cards help in reading as well as storing data such as drive parameters, operating data and firmware.

The drive controllers feature a normally open relay contact with pick-up and drop-out delays of 10 ms and two current control, position control and velocity control cycle times. They have a minimum SERCOS cycle time of 1000µs. CDB drive controllers must not be put to use outside the ambient operating conditions specified by the manufacturer.
