It serves as the communication and logic core between the drive hardware and supervisory PLCs, enabling deterministic motion sequences and coordinated fault handling across conveyor, packaging, and machining stations. In a control cabinet, it occupies the dedicated control slot, which allows the heavier power electronics to be serviced or replaced separately from the logic section.
