Product Description:
The CDB01.1C-S3-ENS-EN2-NNN-MEM-L2-S-NN-FW belongs to the CDB Control Units series produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. It serves as the detachable control section for IndraDrive power modules, handling command processing, axis coordination, and safety functions inside motion-control cabinets. It combines fieldbus communication, encoder evaluation, and STO circuitry on one plug-in board, which simplifies control architecture in packaging, printing, and general machine-tool platforms. That arrangement lets the power module focus on energy conversion while the control board manages communication and feedback processing for the connected axes.
During idle operation the board draws only 9 W of base power, so thermal load on a closed panel remains minimal. It supervises 2 independent drive axes, allowing synchronized interpolation without additional hardware. Communication with upper-level PLCs is carried over the deterministic SERCOS III interface, which supports 100 Mbps real-time telegrams for position, velocity, and diagnostic data. As a result, the unit can exchange cyclic command and status data with the automation system while still handling local sensor inputs directly. The first encoder supply delivers 12 V to absolute or incremental sensors, while a second regulated rail provides 5 V for EnDat 2.1, 1 Vpp, or 5 V TTL feedback. Built-in encoder emulation can generate SSI or incremental signals for legacy controllers, and the Safe Torque Off logic removes drive energy when a monitored input is opened.
Axis-feedback cabling is accommodated up to 75 m when sense lines are used, or 50 m without them, which helps preserve signal quality in large machines. The power section sees a maximum inrush pulse of 60 ms, while the typical inrush current peaks at 6 A during power-up, so upstream protection and precharge circuits must be sized accordingly. Service access is provided through a Mini-DIN 8-pin RS232 connector, and the serial link may be extended to 15 m for service laptops. A nine-pin female D-Sub carries the STO channels, keeping safety wiring separate from control I/O. Separate service and safety connectors also reduce cable crowding around the feedback ports.
