There it serves as the local processor that converts fieldbus telegrams into real-time axis commands for machine tools, packaging lines, and material handling cells.
Internally, the board supports 2 axes, each served by high-precision analog channels. Command voltages are accepted through inputs that present 160 kΩ of resistance, minimizing load on upstream signal sources. Each increment on these inputs equals 1.23 mV/inc, allowing fine setpoint resolution during velocity or torque control. When the unit drives external devices, it can source reference voltages into loads down to 5 kΩ, and those outputs step in slices of 19.5 mV/inc. Four combined digital I/O points supplement the analog functions, while two Type-2 probe inputs capture edge-triggered position events for tasks such as registration. The integrated PROFIBUS interface manages deterministic bus cycles, and it connects through a 9-pin female D-Sub connector.
