Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the CCD01.1-KE05-01-FW, a compact motion controller in the CCD Motion Controllers series. The unit serves as the central processor that sequences drives, collects feedback, and exchanges data with higher-level PLCs, allowing coordinated multi-axis motion in assembly lines, packaging machines, and similar equipment that depends on synchronized positioning. By combining bus management with localized I/O, it reduces cycle times and simplifies cabinet wiring in distributed automation architectures with remote nodes and local machine interfaces.

The controller interfaces with neighboring devices through a front-mounted 9-pin D-SUB connector that carries the system bus. Communication on this line uses a RS-485 duplex layer and conforms to the DIN E 19258 standard, providing differential signaling and predictable timing. Status is indicated by 8 diagnostic LEDs that show supply, bus activity, and error states. For network exchange with remote I/O islands, the unit supports the INTERBUS-S fieldbus protocol. Three isolated external inputs capture trigger or limit signals, and complete galvanic isolation separates control from power to help prevent ground loops. The RS-485 receiver presents 12 kΩ of input resistance and handles telegrams up to 9,600 baud on the auxiliary port.

Fiber-optic communication is available through an FSMA light-wave link on the front panel; the module tolerates overall link losses up to 12.5 dB, allowing modest distances even with patch-panel terminations. A service interface based on RS-232 is also provided; it supports cable runs up to 15 m, transmits at rates up to 38400 baud, and drives the line with swing levels of ±15 V so standard PC adapters can be used without level shifters. Systems that require multi-drop diagnostics can instead use the RS-422 option, which is limited to 9,600 baud and benefits from balanced signaling over longer runs between cabinets or remote panels.
