By combining high-speed serial links with discrete field wiring, the unit acts as the central command element that bridges logic sequences created in software with real-time motion executed on connected drives.

The controller draws control power from a backplane rail rated at 24 V, and the same voltage is provided on the field terminals to energize sensors through an isolated I/O supply. Parameter retention during power loss is handled by a replaceable CR2477N lithium cell that maintains a memory backup supply of 3 V. Fault codes and status words are presented on a 7-segment LED display, allowing quick troubleshooting without external tools.
