The BTA20.4-ND-LB-KB-BS control board is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. Designed for installation behind a sealed machine front, it links discrete field devices to a host PLC and supports coordinated motion, stop, and diagnostic routines within automated machining cells. By combining local I/O handling with fieldbus communication, the board functions as a compact node inside larger industrial automation networks.

The unit exchanges process data over INTERBUS-S and BT-BUS links. A single RS232 connector supports parameter download, and separate RS422 input and output channels pass diagnostic frames to adjacent stations. Within the communication stack, a maximum transfer speed of 38400 baud maintains timely refresh of I/O images, while the onboard BT-BUS memory stores just 6 bytes, enough for status words and control bits. Eight opto-isolated inputs and 8 digital outputs provide discrete interfacing, and each output channel can source up to 200 mA for contactors, lamps, or clutch solenoids. Mechanical integrity is supported by a varnished aluminum front plate, and the front face has an ingress rating of IP65 so dust and water jets at the machine front cannot reach the electronics. Twin Interbus sockets, one input and one output, support line and ring topologies without external repeaters.

For safety-related tasks, the board hosts an emergency-stop relay path rated for 2 A DC / 3 A AC. This relay path can directly interrupt valve or drive supply lines without an external contact amplifier. The same circuit tolerates up to 24 V DC / 42 V AC, so standard control voltages can be used for the stop chain. The control board natively supports INTERBUS-S / BT-BUS, allowing it to appear as a remote I/O device that can be diagnosed through the RS232 service port or cascaded over the RS422 links.
