The BTA20.4-ND-DC-VD-BS is a machine control board produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. It is intended to mount behind the operator panel of automated equipment and handle local digital I/O while exchanging process data with higher-level controllers on a field bus. By concentrating switching and sensing functions on one compact module, the board simplifies wiring inside packaging machines, material-handling stations, and similar installations.

The control electronics draw only 50 mA from the backplane bus, so power budgeting in the cabinet remains straightforward. All telegrams travel on the dual-protocol INTERBUS-S / BT-BUS interface, and messages can be clocked up to 38400 baud, allowing cyclic updates of the eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs without noticeable latency. Internally, the module maps its process image to an I/O width of 3 words, which aligns neatly with common PLC word boundaries. Each output point can source or sink up to 200 mA, supporting direct actuation of small solenoid valves or indicator lamps, while the eight switching elements specified for the design allow simultaneous operation of every channel under full load.

Up to 4 additional BT-BUS slaves can be attached in the same segment, provided the flat-cable trunk does not exceed 50 m. The varnished aluminum front panel and the chemical-resistant polyester foil form a sealed faceplate rated at IP65, so accidental splashes or dusty air do not compromise the keypad or status LEDs. Field termination is handled through a keyed terminal strip with 30 pins, and the connections are grouped to keep sensor returns separate from actuator supply lines. This layout keeps the wiring clear while preserving the module's compact installation format behind the operator panel.
