The BTA20.4-ND-DB-VD-BS is a printed-circuit machine control board produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. It serves as the central coordination node in automated cells, accepting real-time commands from higher-level controllers and distributing them to drives, sensors, and safety hardware. By combining logic processing, digital I/O, and built-in emergency-stop supervision on one card, it reduces cabinet complexity while providing a single point of access for motion sequencing and fault monitoring.

The board communicates over a dual INTERBUS-S and BT-BUS backbone. A maximum BT-BUS reach of 50 m allows remote drive stations to be linked without repeaters, and each cyclic telegram carries a data field that is 48 bits wide. INTERBUS traffic moves at 500 kbaud, while the module advertises identification code 3 to the network scanner for slot assignment. Forty INTERBUS inputs and twenty-four INTERBUS outputs are mapped to the process image, and eight external 24 V inputs with eight external 24 V outputs support local pushbuttons, lamps, or relays. System safety uses 2 independent emergency-stop circuits that open the field lines when triggered. Each sourcing output channel can supply up to 200 mA, so contactors and indicators can be driven directly without booster stages.

The mounting plate measures 375 × 137 × 119 mm, and the overall assembly extends to 407 × 169 × 119 mm once field terminals and covers are installed. Manual override uses a 4-bit Gray code encoder that allows fixed-increment jogging. The front panel has an IP65 seal, allowing use in washdown or dusty environments without additional enclosures. For mobile diagnostics and fault tracing, the handheld terminal BTC06.2 docks to the header and mirrors live bus status, I/O states, and alarm messages.
