The BTA20.4-ND-BM-VD-BS is a machine control board manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. Installed in cabinet doors or operator panels, it supplies field communication and manual override functions for Indramat drive packages used in packaging, printing, and material-handling lines. It also provides a BTC06.2 mobile terminal connection so drive data can be read and set points can be entered directly at the machine. This arrangement places control access at the panel instead of requiring a separate interface device nearby.

Internally, the module handles a bus data width of 3 words, allowing three 16-bit process data objects to be transferred during each remote bus cycle. Its aluminum front plate, coated with polyester foil, is mounted on a chassis that spans 407 mm in width, 169 mm in height, and 119 mm in depth, which supports flush installation beside other DIN-mounted electronics. With an ingress rating of IP 65, the electronics remain sealed against dust and low-pressure water jets when the panel door is closed. The sealed front and varnished surface support use on moving gantries or in washdown zones without additional enclosures, while also resisting oil and coolant exposure.

For networked operation, the remote bus runs at 500 kbaud, and an onboard regulator supplies up to 200 mA at 5 V for external LEDs or the attached handheld terminal. Three keyed switch positions select local, remote, or inhibit modes, and the override encoder outputs a 4-bit Gray code with a ceiling of 120% to let operators trim speed without changing PLC logic. Field wiring uses one RS232 input, bidirectional RS422 ports, and a dual Interbus link with 1 x INTERBUS IN, 1 x INTERBUS OUT. That mix of interfaces lets the board connect serial devices, handheld controls, and the remote bus from one panel location.
