The BTA20.4-NA-DB-VB-BS is a machine control board manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. It serves as a distributed I/O interface for automated cells, collecting field signals and forwarding them to the central controller through its INTERBUS gateway. By combining isolated inputs, relay-ready outputs, and on-board status lamps, the board provides compact command and feedback handling for presses, material handlers, and other production equipment.

The module accepts a total of 40 inputs and delivers 24 outputs, so local sensing and actuation can be grouped on one card. Signal exchange with the PLC occurs over the INTERBUS-S / BT-BUS communication channel, and telegrams move across the remote link at 500 kbaud. Each transmission contains 3 words (48 bits) of process data, matching the physical I/O count and eliminating padding overhead. Eight external inputs and eight external outputs are galvanically isolated, protecting logic circuits from field transients. An input supply of 24 V requires less than 10 mA, minimizing load on the control cabinet power supply. Two gray-code override switches allow manual state selection during setup or diagnostics, while a single E-stop lamp shows whether the emergency chain is energized.

The front panel carries an IP65 rating, allowing installation on machine surfaces exposed to dust and low-pressure water spray. Each transistor output can source up to 200 mA for contactors or indicator beacons. For heavier loads, the relay block can pass up to 2 A DC / 3 A AC per channel when switching at field level. Voltage limits are set at 24 V DC / 42 V AC to remain within extra-low-voltage safety guidelines. These electrical limits keep connected field devices within the extra-low-voltage range commonly used in machine control circuits.
