The BTA20.3-NB-LA-KA-BS control board is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. The unit serves as a modular field station, allowing centralized motion controllers to exchange status bits and command data with sensors, valves, and contactors mounted on industrial machinery. By concentrating the discrete I/O circuitry on a single pluggable card, it simplifies wiring runs and shortens diagnostic time within automated cells. This arrangement also keeps machine-side connections organized when several input and output points must be handled in a limited panel area.

The board communicates over INTERBUS-S or BT-BUS at up to 38400 baud, enabling deterministic updates even on long network segments. Its process image occupies 3 words in the master, providing eight input bits, eight output bits, and handshake flags in one cyclic transfer. The eight digital inputs assert TRUE when their line voltage reaches 18 V and revert to FALSE below 10 V, which helps prevent indeterminate states in noisy cabinets. The eight transistor outputs can drive solenoids or indicator lamps at currents up to 200 mA per channel, while the back-plane power stage makes an additional 50 mA available on the bus for sensors or optocouplers. These electrical limits indicate how many loads can be connected to the module without external relays or boosters.

The metal front panel carries a IP65 seal when fastened to a gasketed door, shielding the electronics from dust and low-pressure water jets. Operation is permitted at ambient temperatures up to +45 °C, so forced-air cooling may be needed in tight cabinets. Reliable operation is specified up to 1500 m above sea level, covering most plant elevations without derating. The board has a depth of 119 mm, a height of 169 mm, and a width of 407 mm, which fit the standard BTA rack and leave clearance for ribbon connectors and cable channels behind the panel.
