The BTA20.3-NA-WS-VA-BS is a machine control board produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. It links discrete sensors, actuators, and safety devices to higher-level PLCs, providing a compact platform for distributed control inside automated equipment. Mounted close to the tooling area, the board reduces wiring lengths while consolidating communication, power, and emergency stop functions used in industrial automation cells. Its layout supports local signal handling where centralized I/O would require longer cable runs and additional terminal space.

The board provides 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs, so an equal number of field devices can be wired directly to the card. Serial diagnostics travel through its RS-232 port at selectable rates from 0 to 38400 baud, allowing the interface to communicate with both older and newer controllers. All process data move over the INTERBUS-S / BT-BUS interface, and the dedicated Interbus transmission layer runs at 500 kbaud for millisecond updates. Logic electronics accept a 18 to 30 V supply; within this range, each input draws less than 10 mA and registers a high state above 18 V or a low state below 10 V. Each sourcing output supplies up to 200 mA, which is sufficient for small relays, stack lights, or pilot valves without external amplifiers. The RS-232 receive circuitry tolerates differential levels between ±5 and ±12 V for reliable serial communication.

The dual-channel emergency chain opens with currents of 2 A DC / 3 A AC, and its rated release voltages are 24 V DC / 42 V AC, enabling direct connection to standard safety relays. The front keypad and connectors have an IP65 seal, so splashing coolant or airborne dust will not enter, while the card's rear housing is classified as IP20 for cabinet mounting. Reliable operation is maintained from +5 to +45 °C, and the assembly can be stored between −20 and +60 °C without performance loss.
