Bosch Rexroth Indramat’s BTA20.3-NA-WK-VC-BS control card belongs to the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. As a plug-in I/O and communications module, the board links distributed sensors, actuators, and higher-level PLCs inside automated cells. It collects field signals, conditions them for the INTERBUS backbone, and passes machine commands to output drivers, forming a central interface layer between drive controllers and peripheral devices on the production line.

Within the backplane, the card handles a 48-bit internal data path, allowing simultaneous transfer of status words and control bits without time multiplexing. A regulated logic rail supplies up to 50 mA at +5 V for encoder or sensor electronics positioned on the same rack. Communication to the plant network runs over INTERBUS-S or BT-BUS. The remote channel is clocked at 500 kbaud, while an Interbus ID code of 3 and two galvanically isolated Interbus connectors support ring or line topologies. One RS-232 diagnostic socket and two RS-422 differential links are available for setup and diagnostics. The module aggregates field wiring into 40 discrete input points and 24 transistor outputs, reducing the amount of direct signal marshaling required at the main controller.

The front panel carries an IP65 rating, so the board can be installed in operator panels that encounter dust or low-pressure washdowns without needing extra gasketing. Each field transistor can switch up to 200 mA, allowing direct actuation of lamps, miniature relays, or pneumatic valve coils. Local machine signals arrive through 8 opto-isolated 24 V input channels, and the card returns commands on 8 sourcing 24 V outputs that share the same voltage rail. Auxiliary pass-through terminals forward the 24 V supply to downstream devices, and shielded conductors help maintain signal integrity when the module is daisy-chained into longer INTERBUS segments.
