The BTA20.3-NA-SP-BA-BS is a programmable machine control board produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. Installed behind the operator panel of cutting, packaging, or assembly equipment, the board coordinates axis drives and safety chains. It also manages fieldbus communication so higher-level PLCs can exchange real-time data with peripheral devices.

Its processing path moves a 48-bit data word through arithmetic and sequencing blocks, giving fine resolution for motion setpoints and diagnostic flags. The sealed fascia has IP65 front-panel protection, which helps block dust and low-pressure water during washdowns. RS232 transfer is selectable up to 38,400 baud, allowing parameter transfer without overloading the communication link. The I/O ribbon supplies a 50 mA maximum bus output current, which is sufficient for optocouplers on nearby sensor cards. Internally, the board scans 40 wired inputs, and separate terminals provide eight external 24 V inputs and eight external 24 V outputs for limit switches and stack lights. The RS422 port uses a 0/5 V differential pair, and twin INTERBUS sockets support in-line or drop-line wiring.

Field communication on the optical INTERBUS remote bus reaches 500 kbaud, matching the cycle times of multi-axis drive chains. Up to 24 transistor outputs are mapped into this bus image so solenoids, contactors, and pilot lamps can be driven without extra couplers. The board’s aluminum casting measures 407 × 169 × 119 mm, and its mounting slots fit standard 19-inch rack layouts. For operator safety, an emergency-stop relay interrupts a DC control circuit at 24 V DC, 2 A DC, and a 42 V AC, 3 A path is available for legacy contactors. The RS422 differential output keeps a 5 V swing to reduce noise over long cabinet runs, and the front connectors are sealed by the front-panel gasket.
