The BTA20.3-NA-HP-VB-BS machine control board is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. Designed as a distributed I/O and safety node, the board links field devices and stop circuits to the higher-level controller on automated lines, presses, and machining centers. It consolidates 24-volt sensor power, discrete inputs, discrete outputs, and emergency stop channels so cabinet wiring is reduced and fault tracing is easier. In operation, this allows switches, interlocks, and operator devices to be gathered into one interface point instead of being wired back separately across the machine.

Communication with the controller is handled over the INTERBUS-S / BT-BUS fieldbus, and telegrams are transferred at 500 kbaud with a fixed width of 48 bits, which helps keep I/O scan times predictable. A single RS-232 service port and two RS-422 channels allow local diagnostics or point-to-point data transfer without taking the machine network offline. The board sources a 24 V auxiliary rail with 200 mA of current for proximity switches, and it accepts 8 external 24 V inputs while driving eight external 24 V outputs for solenoids or relays. Machine safety is integrated through 2 normally closed contacts that can interrupt control power when an emergency stop button is pressed. The operator side meets IP65 front protection, allowing the panel to be mounted on a door or pendant exposed to coolant spray or dust. Speed or mode override is read by a 4-bit Gray code encoder, giving the controller deterministic position information when an operator turns the selector knob. The mechanical footprint uses a mounting height of 138 mm and a mounting width of 375 mm, while the overall span reaches 407 mm across the bezel, leaving clearance for cable glands. Internal backplanes route field power to auxiliary terminals, and captive guides keep ribbon cables away from ventilation slots. This layout helps maintain orderly internal routing where operator controls and field connections must share limited panel space.
