The BTA20.3-NA-DB-BA-BS is a machine control board built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. Intended for distributed automation, the board consolidates field signals, manages local switching, and forwards data to higher-level motion controllers through several embedded buses. In a machining cell or transfer line, it sits near the tooling, providing deterministic response times while letting the main PLC stay protected inside the cabinet. Because it combines discrete input monitoring with serial bus routing, the assembly reduces wiring complexity and simplifies system expansion. This arrangement supports decentralized machine sections where sensors and actuators are grouped close to the process instead of being routed back to a central control enclosure.

Front panel protection rated at IP65 allows the electronics to face coolant spray and airborne dust when the unit is door-mounted. Internally, the controller processes an I/O data width of 48 bits, so each cycle can transfer channel status over the remote link. The remote bus is clocked at 500 kbaud and is supported by one Interbus input port and one Interbus output port with identification code 3. One RS422 input and one RS422 output provide differential serial routing for legacy devices, while the board accommodates 40 inputs for sensors and 24 outputs for actuator switching.

Auxiliary sensors that need power receive a 24 V supply, and the board can source up to 200 mA. When the integrated BT bus is used, as many as 4 slave modules can be connected over a maximum distance of 50 m, which supports localized expansion near the machine. The board has 8 selector keys, allowing node addresses to be assigned without software.
