The BTA20.3-NA-BF-VB-BS is a machine control board produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and assigned to the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. It forms the local interface between field devices and higher-level motion or process controllers, combining discrete input and output processing with serial fieldbus communication so that actuators and sensors can be managed from a central automation platform. This arrangement lets the board pass status signals and control commands between machine-level devices and the supervisory control system during normal operation.

On the environmental side, the operator panel carries a front rating of IP65, while the electronics that sit inside the cabinet are limited to IP20; this split allows washdown exposure at the panel face without exposing the backplane. Two separate bus systems, INTERBUS-S and BT-BUS, are supported, and data on the INTERBUS link moves at 500 kbaud through two dedicated fiber or copper channels. Service diagnostics can be executed through 1 RS232 port, and high-speed device chaining is handled by 2 RS422 ports. The board draws 50 mA from the internal 5 V backplane supply and presents eight external inputs and eight external outputs for direct wiring of limit switches, pushbuttons, or indicator lamps. A pair of Interbus node connectors completes the fieldbus interface.

The remaining I/O is routed through the motherboard to meet larger machine requirements; capacity reaches 40 total inputs and 24 total outputs when all expansion points are occupied. Each sourcing output may deliver up to 200 mA, making it suitable for contactors or optically isolated relays without additional boosters. For local control, 2 override switches allow output groups to be enabled or inhibited while fieldbus supervision remains active. That function is useful when field devices must be checked independently of automatic sequences.
