The BTA20.3 machine control board is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the BTA20 Machine Control Boards series. It serves as a decentralized interface that gathers discrete signals, forwards them over the BT fieldbus, and executes local safety actions for packaging, printing, and material-handling equipment. By combining communication, I/O aggregation, and safety relay functions on one card, it reduces panel wiring and allows the main motion controller to receive structured status words rather than individual contact transitions. Its sealed faceplate lets the unit mount directly on the machine frame.

On the signal side, the board supports a BT bus reach of 50 m and transfers process data in 3 words per scan, which helps keep host parsing time low. The remote bus section communicates at 500 kbaud, while an InterBus segment passes 48 bits of cyclic data and uses ID code 3 so the master can verify node order. The front panel has an IP65 front-panel rating, which means it is dust-tight and resistant to water jets during washdown. The overall size is 407 × 169 × 119 mm, and the mechanical layout also includes a mounting footprint of 375 × 138 × 119 mm and a 22.5 mm cutout that aligns the keypad and LEDs with the enclosure door. For standard sensing tasks, the module provides 8 external inputs rated at 24 V, and these connect to an internal matrix that totals 40 inputs available to the controller. This arrangement allows one card to handle light-curtain muting, limit switches, and operator buttons without extra terminal modules, which helps reduce cabinet space and simplify I/O addressing.
